README:
======
This is Ken Nakata's (kenn@netbsd.org) "One Size Fits All" color
Xserver for mac68k, integrated with the standard build system and
slightly updated for NetBSD 1.6 (ELF). It should build fine on newer
systems, though the "Imakefile" patch may not apply cleanly. After
ungzipping and unpacking the shar file, and applying the "Imakefile"
and "host.def" patches (by hand, if necessary), "make build" under
"/usr/xsrc" will build both the old B&W and the new server and make
the "X" symlink point to the new one.
Ken's original, which was intended to completely replace the Xserver
under the NetBSD 1.3.2 build system, is in the "Original" directory.
The "Xmac68k_color.bz2" file contains a binary built against these
sources for NetBSD-1.6. It should also work on NetBSD-1.6.1, 1.6.2
(and NetBSD-2.0, with the proper emulation setup and 1.6.1 shared
libraries, although it's recommended to rebuild from source).
Known problems with this Xserver:
================================
* Doesn't work on some PowerBooks.
* Doesn't work at all in DirectColor. Doesn't even fail gracefully!
* Lies about which depths it supports. "xdpyinfo" returns every
conceivable depth -- even ones it can never support. It should only
report the current depth, since there's no mode switching, i.e., it
only supports the resolution that Mac OS was booted into when the
NetBSD Booter invoked the kernel.
