UKTeX V88 #15 Friday 27 May 1988 Male and female TeX on Vax/vms Upright Lowercase Greek Symbols in Maths Mode Re: Fig job opportunity!! dvitovdu Wanted: DVI re-ordering program for UNIX Doing a magazine in LaTeX Chapter references in LateX/BibTeX --------------------------------- Editor Peter Abbott Some users are still having problems with web2c.shar. I would also like to remind you that it is better to use the system aston.spock in place of aston.kirk (some files will fail when using kirk but will transfer successfully when using spock). I have been asked again about kermit access, this will be provided as soon as resources become available. We have been supplied with the software by Lancaster. I shall be testing shortly a mail server based at Aston which may help some users. To date I have had no comments either way on the Edinburgh mail server. TeXmag V2N4 is promised for this weekend so should be circulated next week. I have already ordered it (200USD including TeXbook), signing however not to redistribute it. We are also trying to have the software license at least for the italian astronomical network on vax/vms, ASTRONET. Unfortunately my message appears to have been ambiguous. I am actually looking for lowercase upright Greek symbols for use *within* maths mode. It does seem rather odd that Don Knuth allowed italic and upright uppercase Greek, but only italic lowercase Greek math symbols. If anyone has heard of a suitable math symbol font I'd be grateful. As a last resort we can set up text-type Greek to produce appropriate symbols in maths mode, but super and subscripts may be particularly fiddly. I think any SUN person who wants it will be able to deal with the file in that format. Thanks very much, most useful! I like FIG.... sebastian +++Editor - Good I am glad the file format is OK. Example: Given an 8 page document will order the pages so: (4 5) (6 3) (2 7) (8 1) (or any reasonable permutation of those pairs). I need such a program for UNIX systems.
