TeX that..! Tex sources on cartridge wanted --------------------------------- Editor Peter Abbott Sorry for the late delivery there are problems with the mail/post facilities at present. I am looking for help with Metafont. I have a printed sheet showing the alphabet (no known font) which is used in our title `Aston University'. I would like it translated into metafont so that it can be built at various point sizes. At present I have a scanned bitmap stored but this is slow and not easily producable at different sizes. Is anyone conversant with metafont and willing to create the files if I send a photocopy of the characters. I have managed to make arangements for updates to the archive to be supplied from various sources in the U.S. It will be necessary to move parts of the archive and rename some of the directories in the coming months. If you cannot find a particular file or is has disappeared please consult the index. I shall also be receiving a copy of the `UNIX' tape whenever there is a major change and if no major changes at regular intervals. We can now copy the tape reel to reel to avoid the problems created by the VMS filestore. I shall rename the UNIX subdirectory to include the date the tape was written. I have also been promised copies of material included in the Rochester archive (which has moved to another site). (There are probably others who haven't complained.) I _think_ it's because they are, quite naturally, trying to send files back by the same route that they sent their mail message, i.e. via UCL.CS. But TEXSERVER isn't a registered user of that gateway. So, if you have been trying to get files back in this way, you'd have more success using user%here.there.edu@earn-relay as your return address in mail-server requests. Indeed, I think I'm right in saying that all non-JANET/PSS mail should now be sent via `earn-relay', not via `rl.earn'. But I'm by no means a networking expert; is there someone who can confirm/deny what I'm guessing? Adrian F.
